Sex workers are part of our society – but when it comes to political decisions that affect the reality of their lives and work, their voices are often ignored or actively delegitimised. The lecture explores the question of what it means to apply human rights principles to the field of sex work policy – in the past and present.
The focus will be on key topics such as decriminalisation, labour rights, health, migration and the role of the police. And above all: the democratic right to co-determination. After all, political participation is not a privilege for the few – but a fundamental right for all.
The event is organised by the ChemNetz working group. This is a network of committed institutions to which the following members belong: the Office for Health and Prevention: the counselling centre for sexual health, KOBRAnet: specialist counselling centre for victims of human trafficking and those affected by violence in the name and Daria: specialist counselling centre for sex work.
