In the second part of the ‘Ritual & Rebellion’ series, we explore Jewish contemporary art as a sonic space: situated between ritual, experimentation, memory and the present. The evening moves between concert, sound performance and a performative engagement with Jewish narratives, liturgical fragments and musical traditions.
foreignfire creates aesthetically powerful works at the intersection of art and Jewish ritual. In multidisciplinary performances, foreignfire combines text, voice, movement, installation and video. Jewish-biblical and liturgical narratives are not preserved in a museum-like manner, but are interrogated as living material, deconstructed and reinterpreted for the present day.
Ensemble of Love and Terror combines experimental electronica, folk samples, accordion, percussion and idiosyncratic rhythms. In their work, they deconstruct and reinterpret musical traditions using contemporary technological means.
