Florian Illing sings and screams in German for the first time. In post-punk and avant-garde garb (actually just a red jumpsuit), all the songs are about unpleasant deep dives into unpleasant topics.
Although nici ‘s sound is more orientated towards 80s pop, new wave or even Italo disco than hardcore punk, he would probably never have started recording his own pop songs without the DIY ethos of the underground punk scene. He convinces with catchy synth-pop hooks, heartfelt lyrics and a sound that is orientated towards the music of the 80s, but without sounding old-fashioned.
gang 350 is somewhere in between – between synth-pop and post-punk, between energy and melancholy, between no future and the search for a better one. It’s about a stable expression of uncertainty, about ambiguity and not about surfing a wave. Not a closed corridor, but what you know from hotels and office buildings: an escape and many doors.
