What does it mean to live in a new city and meet new people?
How can we understand the conflicting feelings of closeness and distance that characterise life in the city?
To conclude our Urban Realities series, we cordially invite you to the performative happening “Social Safe Space” with Alexandra Meffert from the @wildpalms gallery. The 12-minute happening explores how safety arises in one’s own body and changes when being together with others in a space. Through breathing, inner awareness and gentle movement, participants are invited to experience how inner relaxation influences closeness, distance and relationships.
Alexandra Meffert studied art history and business administration (HU Berlin) as well as art business (M.A.) and is currently pursuing her doctorate at HHU Düsseldorf. Her practice of yoga, mindfulness and movement began early – prompted by her own experiences with an autoimmune disease. She is a trained Strala yoga teacher, certified in functional anatomy (TU Munich) and deepens her practice through barre, meditation and surfing.
In addition, this weekend is your last chance to visit the exhibitions “Practices of Moving” by wildpalms at Galerie HINTEN and Raisan Hameed’s “After Image – ما بَعد الصورة” at Galerie Glaskasten.
Opening hours:
Galerie Glaskasten: Fri–Sun, 4–8 p.m.
